Three years ago I was finishing my Industrial Design technical engineering at EUDI (Escuela Universitaria de Diseño Industrial), asociated with the UDC (Universidade Da Coruña), in Ferrol. As the final project we had to design some concept furniture to the bioclimatic era habitat and the result had a very good acceptance. I am really proud of what I´ve learned in that university school and of the project, as well as all my classmates, projectmates and teachers. Here is the result of that final year/project.

EUDI, in collaboration with FECEG (Federación Gallega de Carpintería y Ebanistería) started an innovative initiative that has as main objective the development of new concepts in furniture and furnishings in the  Bioclimatic era, rooted in the current and historical heritage of Galicia. The designs arise from the trend research and analysis of socialization in different areas of bioclimatic buildings and, therefore, adapted to profiles of various social groups.

I had worked with Marta Falcón, Alfonso Orbán and Juan Gándara in this project, in a marvellous explosive team named Humano. The result are this 5 pieces of innovative functional-emotive furniture.

The first of them is named Cun-k. It is a meeting point at the inside of the house. Posible postures multiplies themself thanks to the multiple backs, providing the interpersonal relations, or simply relax and breakout situations.

“The new is only accepted as new if is conventional”. Nuevo Mundo is a sphere that incorpores 4 of the most emblematic sitting furniture: a stool, a chair, a chaise longue and an armchair. One of the most used furniture have been moved to a context that makes innovation.

The Medusón is a ludic furniture thought to socialize. Its legs rotate on itself because its silhouette gives 2 posible uses: one in wich the user straddles it and, when it is rotated, it can be used as a chaise longue.

Ginger & Fred, as it indicates, is a dinamic furniture, inspired in the dancing steps of the famous couple. It can be used both one or two people because it has the ergonomic dimensions on that purpouse.

Coconut is an individual piece of furniture, but when we put some of them together, it becames socializing furniture. It is based on a geometric primitive form, as is the cone, so on to come to other as is the circle.

And as the final result and explanation, here it is the video! Hope you would have liked it!
